Greetings From Honeyland…

The 1,881 days of January Are Over

It’s February!

February is really the beginning: the Lunar New Year [this year] is this Friday, February 9th. That’s the true reset. January feels like it’s a million days long because we say it’s the beginning, but cosmically it really isn’t. It’s like showing up a half hour early to a concert and then saying, “what’s taking so long to start?

So now we’re just days away from the real new beginning, and as usual, I’m taking cue from the moon!

What Time Is It?

I’ve already implemented a few changes, like taking a hiatus from making products and closing down my online shop for a while. I still have some inventory I need to sell! And I could use some help from my patrons to clear out the studio. I’ll share more about that further down.

Creatively I want to take a deep-dive into the concept of anachronism—plucking things from one era and placing them in juxtaposition with another place and time entirely.

The art and style I use in my artistry is always been in reference to my favorite bygone eras, so now I want to expand on the ideas of jumping in and out of time eras in a lot more obvious ways. You’ll just have to stick around because there’s no way I’d be able to explain the weird things my brain is concocting. It just has to be experienced in its own time.

Greetings From Honeyland

Honeyland” is a new umbrella word I’m working under, with the intent to move away from people associating me so much as ‘Sweet Honey’. The things I make or share come “from Honeyland”. Honeyland is, like, more than anything, you know, like, a state of mind, bro.

Since I still have some inventory from product-based goods, the transition to “Honeyland” beyond online social media handle changes will be a little subtle, but once I’m officially cleared out of my product based line, I’ll be full steam ahead on pulling the weirdest parts of my brain out for all that will be from Honeyland.

But I still need to move this inventory of oracle decks, stickers, enamel pins and magnets, seriously! It’s all gotta go! To your house!! Your bestie’s house!! Your cool aunt’s house!! Anywhere but the dumpster! In the grand scheme of things there’s hardly any pieces left: but nonetheless it feels slow to get them out circulating.

This year, my online shop will only be open to the public for 24 hours once monthly—every month on the 18th. No matter the day on the calendar—this is the one day a month my items beyond my oracle deck will be for public sale online until I sell out of them. I’ll also have different items in rotation for these sales too! February’s sale has a ton of vintage items I need out of my studio as well.

Upcoming!

I will only be popping up in person once quarterly. I burned my ass doing too much last year and lost a lot of time, money and most of all energy trying to be everywhere. My first & only event for winter will be mid-February in Midtown [Saint Louis], my only Spring event will be Downtown [Saint Louis] at the end of May. So far, that’s it!

First thing’s first is selling out of the oracle deck. Yes, I’m speaking it into existence that I am going to be able to say, “Plant Magic! sold out within its first year of independent publication entirely through grassroots efforts”. Because if I can do that, anyone can, and I want the world to know that! Do I know how I’m going to sell out before this September? No, of course I don’t know how! I’ve spent almost a year already focused on the how and its cost me a lot of my spiritual energy. It’s going to sell out. I’m not going to question how!

If you already own a copy, sharing about it, even just a picture of your copy on your own socials goes a long way. If you don’t own a copy, grab one from here on my site 24/7 or grab a copy at one of my local wholesale affiliates, currently there are three places in Saint Louis with copies for sale:

Sincerely, the Craft, Forest & Meadow and Sugarwitch

The next thing I feel drawn to keep pursuing is my zine: it’s tentatively called Greetings from Honeyland unless I have a change of heart in the twilight hour (possible, as always). I want it to be the best it can be, so I’ve decided it should be quarterly. I don’t have a release date but I do have a final concept in line with this anachronism bit I’m doing from now on, and I feel quite re-energized to create it! I’ve been talking about it almost as long as the Oracle!

Along with releasing a quarterly publication, I’m also going to begin publicising my written works: poems, short stories and more.

Thank You

As always I wanted to end by saying I truly appreciate anyone who has offered me an iota of encouragement or a single syllable of compliment for my creative work. I pray your kindness is repaid to you tenfold. Every artist or creator I know feels like an imposter, or not good enough. No matter how small the positive comment, it is validation that our soul is being seen and received. It’s been a great honor and joy to connect with so many people through art, and it’s just beginning, that’s the purest joy of it all.

Geesh, don’t you all think I’ve yammered on enough?

Talk to you soon!

Ash
